Historical, Cultural or Contemporary Influences
Marking Guidlines say:
Critically analyse and explain the relationship of the design inspiration to the historical/cultural or contemporary factors that have contributed to the design and manufacture of the item/s.
*You do not have to use all thee influences, just what is reflected in your MTP.
Task:
Study your sources of inspiration you have chosen and decide whether you think they have a historical, cultural or contempary influence. Then critically analyse and expalin how it influences your design.
Examples:
History: Events in history (eg. WWII feminism), Time periods (1920s)
Cultural: Different cultures (Japanese, Aboriginal, Ancent Civilisations), family traditions,
Contemporary: Nature (landscapes, flowers, animals), current fashion trends, current music.
Tip: See written examples on page 382-383 of your textbook.
Can music be inspiration?
Yes!
Even though you can't 'see' music in your folio, you might be inspired by the lyrics or the rhythm of a certain song of genre of music.
Press play, close your eyes and listen. Imagine what this song might look like. What colours, words or costumes do you see?
A good example of music represented in a visual form is in music video clips. Use Youtube and watch video clip for this song, were your ideas similar or different?
