Description
You must include:
-
Written description of each item.
-
What patterns used (commerical or individual).
-
Modifications of commerical patterns (if applicable).
The description must be detailed enough that someone could imagine exactly what the garment looks like without seeing a picture of it. You will need to talk about each garment separately. You could use headings to separate each.
The textbooks suggests no more than half an A4 page total for the description (as there is a lot of information for this section). I would suggest 2 - 3 sentences for each of your garments and use headings to separate them.
Talk about each item in a similar order so it it cohesive.
For example (you can do whatever order you like and only what is applicable):
Name
Pattern
Main features - shape/silhouette
Fabric - type/colour/weight
Smaller deatils - beading/embroidery/lace/zips/buttons
1920's Nightgown
Commercial Pattern: Butterick 1234
This 1920's summer nightgown is floor length gown with lace cap sleeves, round neckline and an unfitted, loose silhouette. It is made from a lightweight, cream cotton/polyester blend that is sheer and has medium drape. The lace sleeves are accentuated with cream beaded flowers, and traditional embroidery around the neckline also in cream. The garment is loose fitting and has no fastenings.
